The best thing about writing songs is that you are free to do whatever you’re inspired to do. Do you feel like a minor key today? A happy up tempo? After all, it’s YOUR song! There’s no rule about chord progressions. Maybe certain conventions of commercial music have influenced your writing. Spend a day writing something that purposefully breaks away from “what you hear on the radio,” or listen to on your favorite streaming playlist. There is no limit! Have fun with it!
